FAQ’s and Answers

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes! Free Quotes and Estimates for all new equipment installs including air cleaners and humidifiers.

Is it normal for my heat pump to deliver warm (not hot) air and operates for long periods of time?

Yes, this is absolutely normal. A heat pump generally produces air that is 80 degrees, which is considered warm and will heat the house evenly. However, 80 degree may feel cool to your hand because it is cooler than your body temperature.

How often should I have maintenance done on my HVAC system?

You should have maintenance done on your system twice a year. Once in the Spring for your AC, and once in the fall for your furnace. This not only ensures maximum efficiency but also enables us to foresee any possible issues that could occur in the near future.

What maintenance should I perform on my Air Conditioner?

Changing out your furnace filter is the primary form of maintenance you can perform. When talking about ground mounted outdoor units, the units will need to be kept clear of debris, which includes any foliage or vegetation in the area. Additional maintenance should only be performed by a certified technician.

How often should I replace my air filters?

For peak efficiency, performance and filtration, we have a general rule of thumb depending on the thickness of your filter. Every inch thick your filter is, think of that as one month. 1″ Filter=Monthly Changes. 2″ Filter=Change every other month. 4″ Filter=Change every 3 to 4 months. Change your filters more frequently if you or your family have allergies or have pets.

Is an HVAC system with higher capacity better?

In general, no. HVAC systems are the least efficient when first turning on. A system with too much capacity will run in numerous short cycles, turning on and off repeatedly, therefore causing it to be less efficient and increasing energy consumption. Another primary function of an AC is to remove humidity for the air. Running shorter cycles detriments your systems ability to do this.

How can I increase the lifespan and efficiency of my home’s HVAC system(s)?

The most important tasks you can perform involve cleaning and replacement of your filters regularly. Also, the use of shades, drapes, shutters or screens being installed on windows that are exposed to extreme sunlight can help reduce indoor temperatures as well.

What size HVAC system should I have installed on my property?

In general, a “1 Ton” air conditioner can cool anywhere from 300 to 800 sq. ft. The primary factor impacting the effectiveness of an AC unit is the construction of your home. The best way to assess your home’s needs is to have a licensed professional evaluate them. Remember, our quotes are free!
