5 Tips to Prepare Your HVAC for the Summer Months

As the weather begins to warm up, it’s important to make sure your HVAC system is prepared for the summer months. There are a few things you can do to help your system run more efficiently and avoid any potential problems.

To ensure peak performance and maximum efficiency to save you money on your power bills this summer, consider these options! Remember changing your air filter regularly is the most important tip we can give you!

1. Clean or Replace Air Filters

Dirty or clogged air filters make your HVAC system work harder, leading to higher energy bills. Replace 4″ air filters at least once every three to four months to keep your HVAC system running at maximum efficiency.

2. Clean Your AC’s Coil

Dirty coils on your HVAC system reduce the effectiveness of the system. A simple spray down with a hose to clean the coils at the beginning of the season ensures optimal efficiency. Also make sure to clear all vegetation around it.

3. Schedule Maintenance

Regular maintenance by a licensed HVAC technician can minimize the risk of breakdowns, save energy, and increase the lifespan of your system. Schedule annual maintenance at the start of the summer season.

4. Upgrade Your Thermostat

Consider upgrading your thermostat to a smart or programmable model. These models provide greater control over temperatures and can help save energy and money.

5. Install Window Coverings

Energy-efficient shades can block out the sun’s rays and prevent heat from entering your home. This reduces the workload on your HVAC system and saves money on cooling costs.

*Alternative & Reliable Back-Up Plan: Consider a Zone Control System!

Zone control systems allow you to control the temperature of different areas of your home independently. This allows you to save energy and money by only cooling the areas you are using.

By following these tips, you can prepare your HVAC system for the summer months and enjoy a more comfortable and energy-efficient home. For even more help making sure your system is running optimally, contact us at Arctic Air Inc.
